Washing your hands after using the restroom : the debate

I recently stumbled upon a video of woman being proud to not wash her hands after using her restroom. Why should she? It is not necessary, according to her. Then, I saw this thread on reddit. The surprise.

What was discovered

  • 90% of men don’t wash their hands after they pee because they didn’t touch anything other than their private parts which are “clean”, so they say.

  • Some people claim to be allergic to some soaps, so they just use a little water.

  • The germaphobes who say that their hands get more dirty by touching parts of the sink. As a result, they use a piece of paper to touch door handles and other parts of the bathroom. Since they did not touch anything, why the need to wash their hands?

  • Others say washing their hands using the soap they put in public bathrooms actually causes bacteria to multiply in your hands.

  • Some say they don’t wash their hands when they pee, but only when they poop.

  • The use of hand sanitizers are better than the bathroom soap.

  • More people like the lady in the video.

  • “I don’t pee or poop on my hands. Why should I wash them.”

Although the hands are not always clean even after a wash, i still think it is important to have some sort of washing with soap. That reddit thread reinforced my need to constantly clean my hands. I always carry some hand sanitizer. I not only sometimes have to go to a public bathroom, but having to hear people not stop by the sink throws me off. Some even go to touch food. The next thing you know you are sick.
